The Intrada Brass of Oakville welcomes applications for the position of Music Director.

The Position

The Music Director reports directly to the Board and is responsible for the fulfillment of the band’s artistic potential and engagement and development of Oakville audiences. S/he will work with the board to provide artistic vision and musical leadership continuing to build the artistic quality of the band. S/he will help guide the selection of repertoire and guest artists and will attract and retain quality musicians, and recommend new members as necessary to the Board.

Candidate Profile

The Board of Directors of the Intrada Brass seeks a Music Director who brings energy and commitment to help the band deliver on its mandate as defined in the Intrada Brass constitution. The successful candidate will help build a larger footprint in the community, serving more people that deepen their engagement with the band. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional musicianship and conducting skills with the ability to convey musical ideas and intentions. S/he will have significant experience conducting brass bands and brass ensembles as well as experience working with high-level amateur & professional musicians. S/he will have a wide knowledge and understanding of brass band and brass ensemble repertoire. Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills are necessary and the ability to work collaboratively with the board and meet deadlines is vital.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About Intrada Brass

Formed in 1995, the Intrada Brass (IBO) presents three main series concerts per year as an authentic British-style brass band with the goal of playing a wide repertoire as well as encouraging the composition and arranging of music by Canadians. With flexibility in ensemble size, Intrada has a robust outreach program and presents concerts and outreach events in the community and at local schools and retirement residences. Intrada Brass players are drawn from across southern Ontario and are high-level amateurs and professionals.
