Gaîté Canadienne
Gaite Canadienne is a showcase of original music for Brass Band by Canadian composers. The album title comes from Lothar Klein’s suite which was commissioned by Intrada Brass for the recording, using funds provided by the Ontario Arts Council. That suite occupies tracks 19, 20 and 21 of the CD. For the most part, the CD showcases music which is easy on the ears and showcases the band’s strengths: outstanding soloists and tight ensemble playing.
The music by Kevin Norbury, Douglas Court, Jeff Christmas and David Woods was all written for Intrada Brass and received its first recording on this disc.
